James Madison Ayers was born in East Troy Bradford County Pennsylvania August 6, 1832. He was married to Betsy West and had 12 children. In June 1887 he married Mrs. Arvilla Baker. Ayers served in the Civil War Co. E 12th N.Y. Cavalry. For a few years he was a postmaster in Blaine IL and the post office was once in his home. He died July 1,1908 at the age of 78.
