Peter SMICE was born March 21, 1801 in Huntingdon County, PA. Peter Smice's father was Johannes SCHMEISS, a Hessian soldier who was captured at the Battle of Trenton during the Revolutionary War. Peter's mother was Maria Barbara FRENCH from York County, PA. Peter Smice married Ellizabeth PARKS June 27, 1824 in Washington County, MD. In 1848, the Smice family moved to Ogle County, IL. Elizabeth died in 1849 leaving Peter to raise several small children. Peter Smice died January 30, 1884 in Grand Detour Township, Ogle County, IL. Peter Smice is my great, great grandfather.
