Carmelo GRISANDI

Mount Carmel Cemetery
Cook County,
Illinois

Concrete above-ground crypt with room for 2 internments, one on top of the other. The crypts can be viewed through a bronze-framed door with clear glass panes. There are 2 concrete urns on concrete slabs flanking the door. and a concrete cross on the roof. There is a large artificial flower spray on a wire stand inside the door that appears to have been there a very long time. The color has bleached out of the flowers and they are covered with cobwebs. It appears that no one has opened the door in many years, possibly since Carmelo's internment in the top crypt. The bottom crypt is empty.
Inscription:
QUI RIPOSA
IL MIO CARO SPOSA
CARMELO GRISANDI
MORTO 5 NOV 1923
REST IN PEACE
RICORDO [rest of this line of inscription is obscured by the flower spray]
Note: There is a photo of the deceased on the stone.
