WHILE RETURNING FROM...PATROL...LIEUTENANT GIBSON,
WOUNDED BY...ANOTHER MINE, REFUSED TO ACCEPT MEDICAL
ATTENTION BEFORE HIS MEN HAD BEEN TREATED...HE RADIOED
HEADQUARTERS FOR MORTAR FIRE AND PERSONALLY
REMAINED IN CHARGE OF HIS MEN UNTIL THE ENEMY WAS
BEATEN BACK. ONLY THEN DID HE ALLOW HIMSELF TO BE
EVACUATED..." (CITATION SSM)
