1883 - 1925
Michael Dowling, a resident of Morgan county his entire life, passed away at 5:15 o'clock Thursday afternoon at his residence, 731 North Main street, at the age of 52 years, 11 months and 10 days. Death followed a brief illness, part of which time Mr. Dowling was under treatment at a hospital.
He was born near Woodson, Jan. 30, 1873. He was united in marriage with Miss Katherine Sheehan, who with two children, Ellen and John Edward, of this city, survive. He also leaves two sisters and two brothers, Rhoda, Sarah and William Dowling of Murrayville and Edward Dowling of Pekin. One sister, Mrs. Mary Durkin, preceded him in death. There is one nephew, John Dowling of Woodson.
Mr. Dowling was a member of the Woodson Baptist church.
The remains were removed to the Gillham Funeral Home where services will be conducted at 2:30 o'clock Saturday afternoon. Interment will be in the Jacksonville cemetery.
Owing to the suddeness of Mr. Dowling's death, an inquest was held this afternoon, beginning at 2:15 o'clock. The finding of the coroner's jury will be published tomorrow.
