George: July 7, 1856 - May 5, 1907
Obit: George W. Sheppard died Sunday night at 9:15 o'clock at the family residence five miles south of this city, at the age of 51 years.
Mr. Sheppard was well known throughut Morgan county and vicinity and attracted much attention because of his corpulency, weighing over 410 pounds. Although being so fleshy, he was able to get about with dexterity. He had a large circle of friends who will miss his cordial greeting and warm hand shake.
He was born July 7, 1856, and had always resided here. His last illness was of short duration from a stroke of paralysis, this being his third attack.
He is survived by his wife, five brothers and three sisters.
the funeral serices will be held at 10 o'clock Wednesday morning at the family residence, five miles south of the city, and will be in charge of Rev. D. W. Owens of Hersman, Brown county, and interment will be made in Sheppard cemetery.
Previous to his death Mr. Sheppard made all the arrangements concerning his funeral services and they will be carried out according to his wishes.
Note: George W. was the son of Joseph Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Coffman Sheppard
