Note: There is a symbol on the front of the obelisk that looks like an iron cross but going clockwise, is inscribed with the letters V, D, A and D and the dates 1866 and below that, 1870-71. Not sure what organization this represents, but the dates could signify a civil war veterans group. Just speculation.
