Emanuel was born, in County Donegal, Ireland, to John and Ellen Price Coyle. He married, in @ 1860, Frances Smeetem, of Eyemouth, Berwickshire, Scotland. They were married in Scotland and Emanuel came to America sometime between 1862-1864 and sent for Frances and their daughter, Bridget, in 1865 settling on a small farm in Kickapoo, Illinois until his death. Frances then moved to Princeville, Illinois. They had nine children, eight born in Illinois, U.S.A.
